Get to Know Your Teen by Building a Relationship With Them

You hear it often when listening to expecting parents. They look forward to their unborn baby, but they would rather not experience the teen years. The teen years do not have to be a stormy time in your relationship with your teen. It is possible to combat this time by working on the relationship you and your child has together.

Your teen needs more than just a strict rule system to help prepare them for adulthood. There are a number of actions you can take to get involved in your teenager’s life. When it comes to studying for finals or other important tests you may take during your educational career, there really are no limits. You are not limited to sitting in a boring library with your nose buried in a book! There are many options to help you ace that test. Take a look at just a few of the creative options out there.

  1. Form a study group. When you are getting a bachelor degree, part of the fun is the social aspect. Whether you are studying in a traditional school setting or online, you can form a study group with your peers to help you master the material.
  2. Utilize the Internet. You’re likely online anyway, right? So why not use the Internet to help you study. Do a Google search on your specific study topic and read some of the links that may come up. Just be careful – you can’t trust everything you read online.
  3. Post it. Many people use post it notes to help them remember important things to do. You can also use post it notes to help you study! Write down key words or phrases you need to remember for your test and then stick the notes up around your apartment. You can put notes on the bathroom mirror, the closet, the fridge, and even the front door. This is a great way to get study time in, without actually sitting down to study.

Researching Family History

Exploring your family history can be very exciting. You can find out you are related to people in ways you never knew about. When you start researching, start with your relatives that are living such as your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. Get as much information from all of them that you can about their ancestors.

Enter all the information you have into a family tree. There is software you can use to make things easier. Search on the Internet for ancestors and information about their lives. You can also find information in obituaries. Once you get more in depth, you will find a lot of information on relatives you never knew you had. You may even be able to track all the way back to the 1600s or further. Get information from your mother’s side and father’s side of the family. It is easier if your work on one side at a time.

When you are researching a certain person, make sure all the information is correct before entering it into your software. If you make a mistake with one person, everyone beyond that will most likely have the wrong information as well.

When putting together your genealogy, research such things as their names, where they grew up, members of their family, where they died, and any interesting facts you can find about them. You may find out some interesting things about yourself as well such as which countries your ancestors came from. There are many different benefits to researching your family history.

Planning Family Game Night

Spending quality time together is very important for families. This is time for you to bond with each other and build stronger relationships. For a lot of families, it is hard to find time to spend with your family. Having a family game night is a great way to spend some quality time together.

It isn’t too hard to plan a family game night. The first thing to do is simply find a time that works for everyone and there will be no distractions. Keep reminding everyone when you plan to have the game night so they do not make other plans. Next, decide on the game you want to play. It will be best if everyone agrees on the game. Make sure everyone can participate.

Ignore any distractions such as phone calls. This is family time and everything else can be put on hold. To make family game night even more enjoyable, prepare some snacks that the whole family will love. Invite some more people such as friends and other family members to make it even more fun.

Pick something fun so that everyone will be excited for game night and make it a habit to do every once in a while. You can make it more interesting by making it competitive and using a scoreboard. You can also award prizes to the winning team. Let your children be involved in the planning, especially the small children. The more involved they are, they more they will look forward to it.

What You Wear Says Much about Who You Are

Who are you really? Your fashion sense has a lot to do with what others see; whether you enjoy the glitz or the less formal sweatshirt and jeans. When it comes to the culture you live in or even dream about, history plays a big part in what you wear today as well as what comes across the boardwalk for you tomorrow.

Shirts of various colors may be a part of your wardrobe, but what style of shirts? Say you like stripes, but they have to be vertical stripes and the shirt has to hang lower than your hips. Horizontal stripes just won’t do, neither will a short shirt that shows off your middle. Your choice relates to culture as well as personal style. You like what you like, sometimes for reasons unknown even to you.

Dereon shirts, for example, vary from the y-shirt variety all the way to tops with belts. Whether you enjoy the simple look or like to accessorize usually depends more on the current style and less on your mood. Some women like the off-the-shoulder look, a style of history repeating itself, while other women prefer a full or cap sleeve.

And this isn’t always because of age. A certain style of shirt just looks right? so that’s the style you buy.

Current American culture may be different than Italian culture, but often what you see in your favorite blouse has a flavor of some faraway land. And that’s as it should be. Culture has a way of mixing itself with all of the colors of the rainbow. And fortunately, for all of us, we get to be a part of it.
